The ASPB Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is hosted by the ASPB Early Career Plant Scientists Section. Five finalists selected in our virtual competition will compete on the plenary stage for the chance to win our grand prize of $1,000 and a People’s Choice award of $500.

Each competitor will have three minutes to present an overview of their thesis research using one slide and language appropriate for a general audience. Competitors will be scored by a panel of five judges, including some of the most prominent members of our society. Our audience can participate too by casting votes for their favorite entry in our People’s Choice award. Following the competition, we will also have an in-person networking event with light snacks and refreshments.

Each finalist has already demonstrated high level science communication skills and is working on exciting plant biology research.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia.
